Reference Chat
How to Use Reference Chat
Using Reference Chat is easy!
In the box to your left is the Reference Chat widget.
If you see the Chat! button, that means that the library is open and that there is a reference librarian at the reference desk ready to respond to your chat question.
To initiate a chat, type in your name and click on the Chat! button. You can also just click in the "Chat anonymously" box and then click on the Chat! button.
You will see the message: "Please wait... A librarian will connect shortly!"
When a librarian connects you will see the message: <name of librarian> has joined the chat! They'll probably say "hello" too.
Just type your question in the lower box and press enter to send it.
If you see "Sorry, chat is offline", that means there is no librarian currently at the reference desk.
You can click on the link "Search the Knowledge Base or Submit your Question" to either search our database of previously asked questions, or to submit your question to the database.
The next librarian on the reference desk will answer your question via email.
