The Sonata in A Major for Violin and Piano was written by César Franck (1822-1890) in 1886. Franck was a composer, organist, and teacher. His works for organ, orchestra, and chamber ensembles are numerous, though he wrote only one sonata for solo instrument. Here we see the title page of the score. This contains not only the composer's signature but also a dedication, which will be discussed later.
