Works Overview

According to scholars, Corri’s most interesting work was A Select Collection of the Most Admired Songs & Duets, which included a new system for realizing figured basses at a time when the practice of figured bass was dying out. Corri provided a system of writing out the skeleton of arpeggios in the figured bass that eventually became commonplace by the end of the eighteenth century. In addition to his publishing companies, Corri's musical output includes a wide range of works in opera, vocal, and instrumental genres, as well as some essays and books about his musical ideas and practices. His operas are his most highly regarded works, such as his adaptation of Alessandro nell'Indie (1774) and his most successful opera, The Travellers (1806).
