Located at 170 East Center St., the Newman Center is a remodeled home that serves the Catholic student body. It is also equally available for all students, although principally for Catholics. The center was opened at B-W April 16, 1967. Since the beginning of the Newman Organization at the University in 1893, the centers have spread throughout the country to 1,169 institutions of higher learning. A Newman campus minister is to counsel, instruct, and to be available to any student whether he or she is Catholic or not. Students sponsor such activities as a prayer group, Concern for World Hunger Day, Visits to the Elderly program, and a weekly mas~ on campus. The center also sponsors other activities including leadership training for students. The facility owned by the Cleveland Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church is used by about a dozen students each day, in addition to mass on Sunday.
The first floor contains a lounge, chaplain's office, a dining room and a kitchen. The basement was made into a recreation room and the second floor has a chapel. The chapel is the centerpiece of the center and was dedicated in honor of St. Thomas More. The second floor also has a library and a Sacristy, the place where the priest vests for mass.

Ground was broken for North Hall in early July, 1958. It was built as the new women's dormitory, housing 123 women. The hall is a three-story, brick structure located on Beech St. on north campus. It was built to adjoin Findlay Hall, a hall already housing 180 women and a dining hall. The $500,000 building was to be completed by Fall of 1959. The general contractor was the H. E. Klefman Co. The funding for the hall came from a U.S. government loan.
In 1980, North Hall lounge was remodeled. The lounge received a much work including carpeting, draperies, and furniture. It was again remodeled in 1995, along with Findlay Hall, to provide more rooms for students. North Hall now houses men and women and is home to many International Students. The American Language Academy at Baldwin-Wallace uses the hall to house its students, and most all of those students who stay at B-W choose to live in North Hall.

North Hall houses STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students in single and double rooms that are co-educational by floor. Located on North Quad, the hall features a 24-hour computer lab, a spacious and comfortable lounge area and a common area kitchen. Residents also have access to the social spaces in Findley Hall as well as the basketball and sand volleyball courts on the North Quad.
